Paycheck to paycheck

Terms of Service

By creating an account or using Paycheck to Paycheck, you agree to these terms.

The service

Paycheck to Paycheck is a household budgeting tool. It helps you track accounts, bills, income, transactions, and a safe-to-use balance. It is for personal and household use only.

Paycheck to Paycheck is not a bank, lender, broker, tax advisor, or financial planner. Numbers in the app are estimates based on information you (and your bank, if linked) provide. You are responsible for your own financial decisions.

Your account

  • You must provide accurate account information and keep your password secure.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account.
  • You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use the service.
  • Do not share your credentials. Use invitations to add trusted household members instead.

Subscriptions and billing

Paid access (and any free trial we offer) is billed through Stripe at the household level. Prices, trial length, and plan options are shown in the app before you check out. By starting a trial or paid plan, you authorize Stripe to charge the payment method you provide according to the selected plan.

  • Payment methods accepted at checkout are shown in Stripe’s checkout flow (card payments). We may change available methods over time.
  • You can update your payment method or view invoices through the Stripe customer portal when available in Billing.
  • Complimentary or exempt access may be granted at our discretion (for example founders or beta households) and can be revoked.
  • Taxes may apply where required.

Cancel. You may cancel a trial or subscription from Billing. You keep access until the end of the current trial or paid period and will not be charged again for that plan after a successful cancel. When access ends after cancel, we disconnect bank links and permanently delete that household’s data from the platform, as described in the Privacy Policy. Resume before access ends if you want to keep the data.

SMS two-factor authentication

If you enable SMS two-factor authentication, you agree to receive automated one-time passcode text messages from Paycheck to Paycheck at the mobile number you provide. These messages are used only to verify your identity when logging in or confirming security changes.

  • Consent. By entering your phone number and choosing “Send SMS code” or by logging in with SMS 2FA enabled, you consent to receive these security messages.
  • Not marketing. We do not send promotional or marketing text messages through this program.
  • Frequency. Message frequency varies with account activity—for example, when you sign in, set up SMS 2FA, or request a new code.
  • Charges. Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • Opt out. You can stop SMS codes at any time by disabling SMS two-factor authentication in Profile → Two-factor authentication. For help, contact us.

SMS delivery is provided through Twilio. Your use of SMS 2FA is also subject to Twilio’s terms and policies where applicable.

Household sharing

When you join or create a household, financial data in that household is visible to other members of the household. Billing for the household affects every member’s access. Only invite people you trust. We are not responsible for how household members use shared information.

Bank connections (Plaid)

If you connect a bank account, you authorize us and Plaid to access account and transaction information needed to provide the service. Your use of Plaid is also subject to Plaid’s terms and privacy policy. You can disconnect linked accounts at any time in the app.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for anything unlawful or fraudulent.
  • Attempt to access another user’s account or household without permission.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service, including probing or overloading systems.
  • Reverse engineer or scrape the service except where the law allows.

Availability and changes

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We try to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may update these terms; continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms. The effective date is shown with these legal pages.

Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of calculations, or non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the greater of (a) amounts you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).

Termination

You may stop using the service, cancel billing, or delete your account at any time as described in the app and Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms, if payment fails and is not resolved, or if needed to protect the service or other users. Account deletion and end-of-access deletion after cancel are irreversible for household budget data when they apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
